     The news industry is dead in the water like TV, sure it still makes money but it's usefulness is almost null save for very specific things you still needs news outlets for, the bulk of your information will come from online sources and people you know, that are unaffiliated or shamed by the news industry

     the US is deep into late-stage imperial decay, while Russia has recovered from collapse of the USSR in 1990.
     also, Russian reporters do not need to fear reprisal when covering US corruption.
