@Smirking Interesting. “Dems are the real racists” has been a concept if not a trope/meme since the 1960s, probably further back, since “the solid South” was an essential part of the Democratic coalition going back to at least FDR. For an overt example, see Wallace breaking with the party and running a strong, spoiling type of campaign for President in 1968, won four Deep South states plus Arkansas.
And their general conservatism was a brake on FDR’s ambitions, especially since prior Democratic party screwups/down right evil like Wilson’s in WWI left them with seniority in the party after Hoover’s horrible response to 1929 ruined the GOP for generations at the national level. See the GOPe crow to this day about how their votes put one or more “civil rights” acts over the top under LBJ, which along with the Supreme Court created a new Constitution after FDR’s previous change of it.
In modern times, I can’t remember who turned this into a limp meme, obviously the Democrats completely ignore it so it only gets traction, to the extent it gets any, with some of the center and of course the negroidolatrous Right. I can see Federal felon Dinesh D’Souza using it a lot, although he wouldn’t have become politically prominent until going to Dartmouth in 1979 and the Dartmouth Review becoming a big thing from its 1980 start.
