     @teknomunk @djsumdog I'd think the present situation warrants using a self-hosted PeerTube as a contingency plan. Anything gets deep sixed from a major platform, you immediately post about it and link back to the PeerTube backup.

     @djsumdog I understand that is where things are now, but we also shouldn't stop with how things are now. PeerTube exists and hopefully more federated streaming video servers are created that make self hosting also provide wide reach and Denial of Service resistance.

     You can always keep a self-hosted version yourself, yes, but if you want people to actually see your video, you do have to at least try to mirror it on as many major platforms as possible. You can (and should) do both.

     If you don't host the videos on your own hardware, you will be at the mercy of whoever owns the hardware that does.

     Well Bitchute has always been a problem since it's based in the UK and subject to their laws. (So was LiveLeak, which is gone now). The Mouthy Buddha channel is back up now btw.
     
     Rumble has direct connections to Peter Thiel. Amazing Poly has talked about this in relation to early rumble stars like Viva Frei and Robert Barnes (although she gets a ton of shit wrong, as she normally does). Still, Barnes has defended Thiel, to the point of claiming that Jame Corbet's analysis on him is wrong. Barnes has a vested interest in keeping Rumble going as he did some of the legal policy documents for them.
     
     Thiel is one of the original PayPal mafia people, an early Facebook investor, and connected to Palantir, a company focused on contracts with social media companies and intelligence agencies in multiple countries. He's got three citizenship (one he basically paid for in NZ, which makes him a version of Kim Dotcom that doesn't suck at being a billionaire and has avoided a criminal record).
     
     Odysee has censored some things in the past, but I still use them quite a bit and don't know a lot about them.
     
     Yes, any decently sized video platform is going to have issues, but you're also not going to get a lot of content people actually need to see on PeerTube instances. Keeping full copies of your work on every video platform (except the YouBoobs) is probably a good idea.
