   I do not believe in climate change, but we should be careful of nuclear war, and other ELEs:

   * Pollution
   * Sweet Meteor of Death
   * Biological Warfare
   * Civilization collapse

   Any of these things could snuff out humanity through a chain reaction.

   We are far more likely to snuff ourselves than an AI is. An AI will, at worst, kill off the useless among us and keep the useful.

     @amerika @lauren your definition of useful and the computer's may differ.
     
     I think the climate today is different from when I was a kid. I do not believe that fossil fuel usage is the most reasonable explanation for that though. The amount of concrete and asphalt, and just simply the natural cycles of the planet and solar system probably have more impact.
     
     We may have already poisoned our environment enough to cause a real risk to humanity, and there might not be any good way to undo some of the damage we've done. I even think it might be possible to link at least some of our social problems to damage done by environmental toxins (like endocrine disrupters).

     Re: the latest silly AI letter - I like science-fiction as much as the next person, but AI is *not* an extinction level problem on par with climate change and nuclear war. (An AI did not write this.)
