@kaia @chjara Wouldn't be surprised to learn that French-France is more non-modern than Québécois, given that on France side there's a lot of conservatism on the language to the point where you can read a book from ~150 years ago without much issues.

does it represent an earlier stage of French development? the German speakers in the US, like the Amish, speak a non-modern dialectal German.

american french dialects are pretty strange sometimes
although i'm not sure if it's that much more divergent than say brit english vs american english
