When I was a kid, my Dad and his wife overcooked EVERYTHING. I thought most vegetables were disgusting. only when they poured honey or sugar on something did it end up tasting good. -

Meat may be more forgiving but as I mentioned my parents overcooked everything. My dad made steak that I don't think my dog would even eat.
Most veggies dont even need to be cooked. Cooking vegetables is a human hack to make nutrients more bioavailable. The more colorful vegetables contain loads of antioxidants and other micro nutrients essential for your health. There is also a lot of fiber in vegetables which is essential for good GI health. To get the same amount of fiber from fruit you would need to eat a lot more sugar which can cause other health issues. One exception I can think of is blackberries which have an equal fiber to sugar content, but most fruit has very little fiber. -

but with veggies they're picky about how you cook them. with meat, it's all right as long as you throw it into a fire. cooked to perfection? no. but just give it heat and it's okay.
veggies are more temperamental. and the nutritional value tends to be low.
