   @thor yes but now normal people don't even own a desktop. Eventually the majority of desktops will be Linux because no one but nerds use desktops. Still winning :troll:

     FOSS developers in the 90s had the idea that they'd replace Windows and that ordinary people would use these tools and they'd know it under names such as Linux and GNU.

     that was seen as the battle to win at the time. cloud didn't exist. smartphones didn't exist. the only relevant thing, the high visibility thing, was what software was running on desktop computers.

     that battle was lost.
