@coolboymew S-Tribute can be dicey, it's essentially a Saturn emulator wrapped up in Unity and has the input lag to match. Not a huge problem with some titles but make sure to check with Steam reviews before you pull the trigger.
@allison It's just that I hate the interface. It's fine for an arcade machine with the controls to match that's also always on full screen. But for everything else and any other uses, it's a right pain in the ass
@coolboymew IDK, things like remapping controls in it or setting up autofire macros are super straightforward, FBNeo standalone is "ok" but not as polished and RetroArch is so bad I don't want to talk about it even in jest.
I was impressed at Ares's N64 capabilities. Less plugin hell and IIRC it came with the right stuff out of the box and I've never seen an N64 emu not look like 2D object smear hell before, it was insane
I messed with it when I played with my N64 save and cart dumper
@coolboymew If I had infinite time and no crippling mental issues, one of my top priorities would be making a "sane" arcade machine emulator with support for common systems (CPS1, CPS2, Neo Geo, PGM, NMK16, Toaplan 2, Psikyo 68020, Psikyo SH2) written in C using SDL, with support for things like runahead built in and a Lua scripting interface to support something on parity with the rich plugin architecture MAME currently has.
@MischievousTomato@allison@coolboymew individual emus still require bios for the most part, some do have HLE bios (basically an attempt to reverse-engineer and reimplement official bios) but it doesn't always work.
@hj@allison@coolboymew perhaps i could design something that actually works and doesn't require uses to work around my retarded software. individual emus did it as well :p
