   I’m still the dour old man in the room who hates movies. I don’t care if they aren’t woke, me and the “cinephiles” just don’t get along.

   “I’m gonna make us all sit here for a self-imposed time out for 3 hours while we reverently watch this meandering, masturbatory dross from an arts major!!!”

     @WashedOutGundamPilot I’m with you there, I’ll try to do things with my parents, get outside in some way and they’ll ask me to watch a movie, then get upset that I ‘don’t want to spend time with them’. It’s not spending time together if we’re all just silently staring at a teevee screen. Consooooming movies is a solo act even when you’re in the same room.

     There are a few good ones out there, sure, but they’re few and far between. Overall, it’s just not worth it to me to burn my lifespan on them when other media is much more time-dense and efficient. Reading is my fave, overall, though it too suffers from a lot of garbage.

     @kuon I don’t really watch it either. Most of the stuff I mention here I actually just read the synopsis of and call it a day.

     @monsterislandcolonizer I just had one of those moments pretty young, I guess. Really ruined vidya for me like a switch was flipped.

     I wonder if there’s a hidden sober realization for a lot of things, when you’re briefly free of some temptation and realize with mounting horror just how much of your life it’s stolen away
