>Nintendo is taking for granted the fact that it's got one of the oldest, strongest female protagonists in videogame history on its hands, but the company doesn't seem to be interested in Metroid without the sexualised Zero Suit Samus. She still represents female empowerment in the male-dominated gaming landscape, but this often goes hand-in-hand with sexualised designs that still pander predominantly to the male gaze. Zero Suit Samus has the potential to be a compelling character, a humanised counterpart juxtaposing her nearly robotic persona in the Varia Suit; it's a shame she's depicted with a Barbie-like figure in eye shadow and bikinis instead.
@sharutiaburaddofouren "B-but muh one throwaway line about Samus being 6.3!", nevermind that even if this was ever the case, Zero Mission retconned it out of existence.
And as much as people hate Other M, Sakamoto obviously considers it canon, and unless the Federation only employs literal giants, Samus is clearly not remotely tall.
@ChristiJunior@sharutiaburaddofouren It's possible for women to be sexually attractive and compelling characters. If anything ugly women are the ones with the most boring personalities because they have nothing but envy and resentment. A girl can be beautiful or plain and develop a personality just fine, but if she's actively ugly she's probably a resentful cunt.
@ChristiJunior@ArdainianRight before we get too far, this was prompted by a faggot on twitter talking about a Metroid movie which I pray to God never gets made. Being the retard posing a theoretical position that doesn't exist and never did exist
Whether or not this is a trolling thing is irrelevant because this is a real perspective faggots have(also it isn't funny or clever)
@sharutiaburaddofouren@ArdainianRight So these retarded pantshitters believe that people who say, hate Feminist Ghostbusters, MCU Captain Marvel and Female Thor are either completely unaware about Samus, or hate her too?
@ArdainianRight@sharutiaburaddofouren Samus being beautiful just follows naturally from her bio and basic character design principles - she's obviously not going to be fat, given her abilities and profession, but hyper-muscular female designs are generally weird, offputting and distracting, plus it would undermine the original Samus Is A Girl twist; wow, so Samus isn't a man, but a woman who basically *looks* like a man? Big fucking deal...
So you end up giving her a nice, slim feminine body - why on earth would you *not* give her a nice face to go along with that? And the Japanese are generally really good at making cute girls, so now you've ended up with Samus being really fucking hot - why would you NOT take advantage of that, especially given how Metroid has never been that commercially successful?
