Cars that went for $1,500-2,500 from that time are double that now. Takeout food has increased around 50%. Groceries are up, though eggs are starting to ease back down.
     
     Anyone who is believing “official” numbers is out to lunch.

All because of the fake ass coof they used to steal a bunch of resources. And remember, it will happen again and sooner this time. because the US gov is mathematically bankrupt at most in a few years. Already with the current few months of higher interest rates, it is already paying more than the entire defense budget just in interest payments and if they actually wanted to put rates with the actual inflation rate aka actually pay positive rates in gov debt, they would have to rise them to +15%. When the gov would be bankrupt in no time just at 5%.

     The government has been low-balling inflation numbers since at least the 1980s. Beyond the psychological effects of a smaller inflation number, there are a bunch of entitlements (social security and military retirements come to mind) that get automatic increases as a matter of law based on reported inflation numbers. Lower numbers mean more money for the pols and less going back to the normal people.
