     @dushman the real problem with linux for normies that don't use google docs or office online is having to deal with libre office, there was a time I was working an internship while having debian has my main os, most docx and xlsx documents had at least some incompatibility for most of the advanced sheets in my experience

     @niuulianov Every day and every night more possiblities than difficulties, 'frustrated' often times means kind of effect to misfocusing towards the much smaller amount of difficulties instead of the much larger amount of possibilities based on experience of what is considered difficult. If that misfocus becomes habitual, or routine, it may lead to depression and/or pessimism. Still, any day and any night, people get more possibilities than difficulties. 🙃

     @dushman @niuulianov I use mint for work on my work laptop, i'm the only guy in the entire company (small). They are all paranoid about not being able to use their software on linux but i literally showed it is possible. But that's just the development team. The other team that does monitoring and shit, they're locked into windows env because of the tools they use. Pretty sure you could request a linux version of those tools, but they won't. I can't care enough either way

     @niuulianov to elaborate, things like PS, Office, AutoCAD, video games, pro video editing, etc are not, and never will be possible with only open source software.

     And yes, Google Docs etc are proprietary software. Just because it runs in a browser does not mean it also isn’t a closed-off data silo chock full of user tracking.

     @niuulianov I was training for one company and I had to bite the bullet and buy a Windows laptop.

     I also ended up having to use Gmail for apply for jobs and work. I was using cock.li (using one of their SFW domains). None of the employeers batted a single eye. It was my Dad who caught wind of it and forced me to use Gmail.

     On my work we all use WhatsApp to send info to each others. It's possible to not use it, but it's not convenient.
