Mario Movie is actually really good and generally does justice to all the characters. Peach I think is a bit too serious, I think they leaned too hard into the serious girlboss side. While Peach can in fact be a competent leader and heroine in her own right, and there's nothing wrong with developing that side of her, I think they could've referenced the lighter, bubblier side of her better. Otherwise they really nailed Mario as the everyman hero who succeeds through perseverance, and Luigi gets his moment too. But it's a good movie, not really "woke" or "anti-woke."

@verita84 It's not at cancerous levels to the point of warping the plot around her and screwing over everyone else in the hardcore Mary Sue manner, but her personality does feel overly muted. There's times when seriousness is called for and she handles that well, but I think they tried a bit too hard focusing on that at the expense of her other personality traits. But Mario was actually handled really well.

@ArdainianRight
Just watched it now with my son lol. Peech is too "modern female"

@verita84 Really Peach stands out because with every other main character they did a really good job at balancing out silliness and seriousness, and with her she was almost entirely serious.

@ChristiJunior She's supportive of Mario and in general is portrayed as a strong leader. It's not actually a bad portrayal but other characters are generally done better.

@ArdainianRight From what I've heard, Peach is "stronger" and more "pro-active" than in most of the mainline Mario games, but she's not some misandrist ball-buster putting down the males, which arguably makes her better than her portrayal in Odyssey's ending.
