I live near Chicago which is the big talking point about crime on the Republican side of politics here. Yet Chicago isn't even in the top 25 cities per capita for violent crime. But Jacksonville is :meowderpy:

A bit of nuance to interject. The establishment is making big claims that seem to only have solutions offered that will drastically effect people's way of life, and any push back is met with ridicule instead if debate.
It actually isn't as cleanly separated by party lines, but that's the impression given since anyone who speaks out of line is pushed to the outside of the establishment party. RFK is a good example. He's a lefty. But he did not support the corona vaccination programs and so now he's a weirdo science denier that is gaining some popularity across both sides even though there are political differences. -
Thorwegian ❄️ (thor@berserker.town)'s status on Friday, 12-May-2023 21:49:52 JST Thorwegian ❄️ @drtifftaft there seems to be some connection between objecting to what the scientific establishment says and being republican, in the US.
the current strategy of the opposing side seems a bit counterproductive. ridiculing the criticism and calling them fools.
i'm not sure this would work, but maybe as a surprise counterattack, admit mistakes, but then destroy them anyway?
but what do i know?

Also it's not a shock that people tend to focus on areas that are closer to their own homes. People that live an hour or two from Chicago are much more affected by the violence there than they are by Jacksonville -
