     @PonyPanda Well yeah of course the navy will still lose to China, the US Navy relies almost entirely on Carrier Groups, White Elephants that are so unfathomably expensive and difficult to make that they cannot afford to actually deploy them in combat against a peer-level foe. and China has a bunch of missiles specifically designed to make those White elephants extinct the second they get within the range they would need to be in to provide support for ground and air forces.

     @PonyPanda I cannot stress enough how fucked the US would be, economically, militarily, and spiritually by the image of a carrier sinking into the south china sea, smoke billowing from its hull, it would be on par with 9/11. Part of our national identity is based around our fleet of aircraft carriers, remove just one of them from the board and that identity will shatter, plus, as stated previously, they are really fucking expensive and basically cannot be replaced.
