     The question you need to answer is much more basic.
     
     God created all things. As the Creator, all things owe God, at minimum, basic respect and obedience. And we see this all throughout nature. If you own something or create something and it doesn't do what you want, you will not put up with that. Neither will God.
     
     You think this is about a church threatening. It's not. It's about something much greater. What do you owe God for creating you

     Then I'm sorry to say to you and Nathaniel, that he's basically fooling himself. Believing something out of fear is not true belief. A man held at gunpoint will do and say anything to keep you from firing, but it doesn't mean he believes in what he says.
     This isn't a win for Christianity or the church, this is a loss. If the only way you can keep your congregation is by threats and terror, your religion is doomed to die.
