Learning Japanese by watching anime and cross-referencing English subtitles to check my sanity makes me realize how bad the subs are. They often are different from Japanese original for no reason, even if more directly translated version would be just as natural/understandable

I imagine it's not much better there, also it's not good learning material for me yet it's too advanced mainly because text selection is impossible. While text selection not being available for other languages might be fine, but since Japanese uses like 50,000 characters (you only need like 2,000~) all having different readings depending on the word it's not convenient and OCRs are garbage
