   Do people still welcome new neighbors to the neighborhood with a meal and stuff? That was a thing right? Or did television implant that into my head too?

     @Turkleton Depends on the layout. If it’s suburbs and it’s a short walk, and it’s middle class, 50% white, then yeah, the healthy people do. Shut ins and NPCs don’t take the initiative but theyll work with you.

     Usually smart to give them a burner phone or google voice line just so you have someone to warn you of thieves, emergencies, etc. Never know when someone’s gonna start flooding and ruin your basement.

     If you’re rural then you can do it slowly and get to know them when you head down to the mailbox, or when you’re in the yard working. Usually they’ll stop and chat for a time.
