The myth that Christianity was forced upon the Germanic people as a whole really seems to conflate the Frankish proto-prussianism as being the reality for all the Great Germans in the early to mid middle ages. It also seeks to delegitimize Christianity as being "non European" when by the 600s it was a European faith (that's not even going into the various protestant sects)
