@William_The_Dragonborn Nothing like a future vision of your main character as a lonely, old hag to kill all emotional investment in both the character and the overall story.
@ChristiJunior@William_The_Dragonborn I like how all the Xenoblade characters from prior games brought back in 3 and Future Redeemed were all treated with respect. Most of them have kids, and all of them are competent. None of them are depressed, broken losers, even when they've suffered setbacks, and they all have valuable wisdom to pass on to the next generation.
@ArdainianRight@William_The_Dragonborn Have you beaten FR yet? The main theme of the story is actually genuinely Based (Alpha reminded me of a Gael'gar who's actually a good villain), and not even the literal end of the world prevents Shulk and Rex from being good fathers.
@ArdainianRight@William_The_Dragonborn I think they're just busy connecting Xenoblade to Xenosaga, and haven really decided whether X will actually be part of the main story or not, though they're keeping the door open I guess.
More to the point, FR's respect for Parents, the Past and even Tradition was extremely refreshing for a work of pop culture media. And while the pro-natalist themes were less explicit than in 3's base game, there's something incredibly beautiful about two fathers granting their children the gift of life for a second time.
@ChristiJunior@William_The_Dragonborn Origin being Mira would actually more or less explain the main cliffhanger with X. They might also want to incorporate Xenosaga elements and work with Bandai Namco, but X very much fits into the Blade timeline if you see the Earth's "destruction" as being caused by Klaus's experiment, which did not actually destroy the Earth but suck it into the pocket dimension of 2.
@ChristiJunior@William_The_Dragonborn I think after 2 the Conduit left 2's pocket dimension and plopped back out to where Earth used to be, the White Whale's navigation systems as well as the Ganglion honed in on it after and it caused them to go around in a circle, the Conduit sucked Origin back through the rift where it turned into Mira, and is hidden somewhere there. And the time discrepancy can be explained by interdimensional shenanigans where what seems like 10,000 years in a pocket dimension might be like one or two years in our universe.
@ArdainianRight@William_The_Dragonborn I don't think they've closed the door to X yet, but ever since Xenoblade 2's Chapter 10 they've had many chances to connect X to the main Xenoblade games, and they've yet to Explicitly do so, which at best means that they're unsure about going in that direction.
@ChristiJunior@William_The_Dragonborn Origin by itself feels like a massive possibility given its obvious similarities to Mira. Maybe in 2 they didn't want to explicitly tie it into X, but by 3 they set things up for that pretty well.
@ChristiJunior@William_The_Dragonborn Note that the portrayal of 1's and 2's universes in 3 has them as of roughly equal sizes, and we know 1 was a pocket dimension, so wouldn't that imply 2's universe was also a pocket dimension containing the Earth?
