   the apocrypha was removed from the canon because a few powerful men didn't want it there.

   same with things like the book of jasher, or the book of enoch.

   what you're likely missing is the following: some other changes later on, made these "contradictions" and are twists and justifications for "why" they were removed.

   get a 1611 KJV and just give it a go if you haven't one.

     @ringo @realcaseyrollins @wjmaggos I never understand the KJV fandom. Not that I think the KJV is a bad translation or anything, but why don't people cling to Geneva the way they do KJV? the KJV was funded by the state to suppress the free (as in open source) translations that were being compiled outside of the churches authority. Not only that but the Geneva contains helpful footnotes and stuff that make it an excellent study Bible.
