     @Eiregoat @DW2 The current economic model we are moving towards is one of perpetual renting. They want to render ownership economically nonviable so that way people have no reason to save money, and in fact are unable to do so.

     Even going with Keynesian nonsesnse that inflation can be driven up forever without consequence... encouraging people to stop spending and cut back is in direct contravention of their theories. Their whole world is based on the idea that people have to be encouraged to spend at any cost, and if they refuse the government must spend on their behalf.
     
     Or maybe they've given up on the idea of people making spending decisions at all and they just want that to be a politician thing.
