   dreaming about my ideal calendar platform:

   - FOSS
   - multiplatform
   - drag and drop to-dos into calendar
   - record of to-do date written and date completed
   - to-dos and events can be reoccurring
   - to-dos can be tagged
   - time spent in virtual meetings is tracked
   - sync of other calendars, even if proprietary
   - user can choose sync option of their choice, or if uses the platform's own cloud—allows clear export/import and how much storage is allotted

     I was looking at super productivity however, it recommends you use google drive or drop box for sync, as webDAV and local file sync haven't been fully built out

     though if I'm going to use webDAV, there's a lot more sysadmin stuff I don't know how to do that I'd have to learn

     I wish I had something that was good enough even as a temporary solution that wouldn't require me to sell my soul and lose all my data at the end of it.

     - generate events based on tasks so that they can be synced back onto other calendar platforms (otherwise I will be screwed or just make mistakes about my availability if I can't get to the necessary interface)
     - be able to toggle views in case I'm working in public
     - event and to-do notifications

     I say this because it has the to-do and calendar integrations I want and it has a one time purchase option

     god I hate that we live in an age where one-time purchases are disappearing

     that being said, the one time purchase option is a hefty $150.

     @pixouls the whole problem set of calendaring is perpetually infuriating, and i have mostly avoided getting drawn into endless cycles of yak shaving around it by just kind of throwing up my hands in despair and only occasionally knowing when things are happening.

     (the most reliable calendar technologies in my life are a printout we pin to the back door and a tab-delimited text file in calendar(1) format that tells me birthdays and anniversaries.)
