Genuinely eccentric personalities don't need to ensure that everyone around them pays special attention to their idiosyncrasies, nor do they need to ensure that said identity still stays within the boundaries of "liberal" groupthink ideology.
     
     case-in-point: nobody to the left of MSNBC doctrinaire will ever be described as "a quirky individual with an harmless predisposition towards Hitler appreciation".
