Remember that in the 1930s right after Hitler got elected, the US actually started rolling back feminism in many ways. They knew they had to win the war.
It isn't as obvious today looking back, but women got the right to vote in the 20s, and yet feminism only returned in the late 60s, an entire generation after WW2. There's a reason they talk about "first wave" and "second wave" feminism. It was interrupted.
The 20s weren't just far more degenerate than the 50s because of the economic bubble. That's just the surface level explanation.
