     Really love how all the articles (informed by this cheesy book) about the IBM/nazi connection make copious reference to how “SHOCKED” the world was by the holocaust.

     For someone steeped in documentation from the era, it’s kind of hard to believe he isn’t willingly lying. Nobody gave a shit about the “holocaust” until decades later, when memory was fuzzy enough for the hyperbole to stick in the public consciousness.

     @SuperSnekFriend @berkberkman I think they’re just NOW killing off the last of the removable battery, square business ones. I am surprised at how many thinkpads I see, along with way overbought gaming laptops w/ gigantic graphics cards because that’s the only thing that looks top of the line at costco

     @berkberkman @SuperSnekFriend AFAIK trackpoint has a few years to go. IBM paid for the dev when the inventor started working on it. Should be up for grabs soon, but….. I wouldn’t hold my breath.

     There’s some cool audio of the ISS crew when they first got them that’s pretty fun to listen to

     @WashedOutGundamPilot @SuperSnekFriend I'm hoping that there's better copycats of the TrackPoint, but so far they're not too common. Patents in the way? The trackpad is still the norm, and it sucks. Not even a "Force Touch" type of feature would interest me.

     @SuperSnekFriend @WashedOutGundamPilot Perhaps there's potential elsewhere? All I could think of is having a new pointing stick mouse + keyboard module for a Framework laptop. There must be growing interest for the company (or someone else) to make them.

     @birdulon @SuperSnekFriend @WashedOutGundamPilot The mechanical keyboard looks cool, but I've gotten used to a split keyboard layout for a while (I use an Ergodox-EZ). There's another keyboard (Ultimate Hacking Keyboard) with a TrackPoint Accessory that I thought seemed neat. It's not cheap, however.

     @WashedOutGundamPilot @berkberkman @SuperSnekFriend They make a full-sized successor https://tex.com.tw/products/shinobi?variant=16969883648090 The trackpoint on the Shinobi is pretty good, the extra lever distance on it feels alright. There’s also cute details like being able to map the middle mouse button to Fn, solving the age-old fn/ctrl order conflict. Not cheap ofc but the modern Lenovo ThinkPad Compact USB Keyboard with TrackPoint™ gave me RSI symptoms for the first time in my life and they went away when I stopped trying to use it. The Lenovo ThinkPad TrackPoint Keyboard II™ is slightly better quality but much more expensive and still bad overall.

     Always wanted a SK-8855 with US/ANSI layout but they’re out of production and the used market looks counterfeit af.

     I hope Framework takes off and gets some real options in keyboards including trackpoints, and also learns that their module size can fit more than a single port, or just routes a decent amount of baseline I/O in the first place.
