If I were looking for a guitar I’d probably start asking every old person I know if they have something lying around. I’ve been surprised at how often I find things that way. So many just have stuff rotting away in their closet. You never know when someone bought their kid a gibson junior in 1972 and left it moldering under his bed thinking “oh who wants that old thing?”

Since he didn't play guitar he let an asshole friend talk him into selling it and the asshole friend pocketed a lot of the profit from it. Woggy's Zeonic Frolicks likes this. -

I don’t like taking from another family’s treasury, so even now, if some kid showed up asking for his granddad’s Garand I’d honor the deal

A little bit of sanding and adjustment and you’ve got something that plays and sounds as good as the expensive shit for half the price.

I've sold something to a family member under those conditions and I hope they honor our deal when I am ready to buy it back. -

Not all that crazy to miss something a few years after you sold it. And now I wish I’d kept it.

GabeLakmann (gabelakmann@nicecrew.digital)'s status on Sunday, 23-Apr-2023 07:09:17 JST GabeLakmann I wish I hadn't sold what I sold but it was to a family member and they promised to never sell it and that I could buy it back anytime I wanted so I felt a little better about the deal.
It wasn't an heirloom or anything though. I really only have one or two "heirloom" things I can think of and I'd never sell them. One of them is 100 years old and works as well, if not better, than any of it's modern versions.Woggy's Zeonic Frolicks likes this.
