The Liberalists were a group of people trying one last time to push their brand of 'sensible' Liberalism into the mainstream instead of adapting to the times.

Now UKIP is controlled opposition, and it's no wonder that it is being revived in this particularly tenuous political climate, especially with the Tories on their way out and a revisit to Blairite politics on the horizon under a reinvigourated Labour party.
