   does Japan not have anything like The Onion?
   
   Incidentally I read years ago that Japanese humor didn't have very much "irony". I feel like that's been changing in more recent anime I had seen but I don't have examples on-hand.

     @Moon making the onion in japan would be kind of hard, around there defamation works differently
     even if something is true, if it hurts one's character, it's defamation
     
     it's why companies can enslave their employees but they never speak out against it, they are just going to get sued

     @emma Yes, that is what prompted my question. I am surprised if humor like this isn't universal but that may be my own ignorance.
