My favorite thing about US history in the books is the narrative "america used to be a terribly racist, sexist, homophobic, and antisemitic country up until like 4 decades ago. Were not really sure why this was but then one day we all just decided to NOT be. For some reason we were all very aggressive towards these people but we just decided to do the complete opposite all at once"
