   While I’m talking about Ukraine I still don’t get why it’s so vital to prevent secession of the Donbas region. I’ve seen bits and pieces of their conflict over the last few years, and it’s still surprising to me to see so many 2A founding fathers worshippers siding with the Ukrainian’s equivalent of Washington DC.

   All these conservative types have spent a lifetime fantasizing about how cool it would be to tear a state or two away from the US government and strike it out on their own as a free and sovereign state. For the better part of a decade, those guys in the eastern chunk of Ukraine have been living that dream. They issued their own passports, build their own government, and shed the blood needed to pull away from Kiev - an entity they saw much the same way these boomercons see Biden’s regime today.

   Saying that the secessionists need to be brought to heel, dead or alive, sounds just like the smug shitlibs (the bloodthirsty NPCs rooting so callously for ukraine already) when they say “I can’t fuckin’ WAIT to see a bunch of texan secessionists bombed into the stone age if they wanna be TRAITORS and leave their federal slavery!!!!“

     I’m sure there’s a whole lot of glowniggardry on the part of the russkies rolling in and astroturfing some support, but you don’t get to the point they did without SERIOUS grassroots approval in the area. So why is it that they’re so dead set on retaining this stuff? Do they not have their own smaller states to see as home?

     I’m certainly not getting worked up about maintaining america’s borders if California wants to secede and join Baja in some pan-mexican world power. Not my hometown, not my business.

     It’s just very weird seeing the same rubes daydreaming about how radical a “national divorce” would be also foaming at the mouth over dead donbas teens in a ratty T-64

     @nugger I get why the regime itself wants to keep it, my confusion is to why the average ukrainian/cheerleader is so emotional about keeping that territory. They’ve cared long before 2022, that’s why you had psychos burning separatists alive and nailing them to crosses years before this all kicked off in earnest.

     It’s a weird frame of mind to me, and it echoes the same bloodthirsty fantasies NPR listeners have about strafing texans with A-10s when they wanted to disconnect from the national power grid

     @WashedOutGundamPilot It's because both Ukraine and the West don't/didn't consider them sovereign states but rather Russian puppets which has been further solidified by Russia annexing those regions so they see them as traitors to their country and/or being held hostage by a warring enemy and needing liberation.
