@serge We could be (and should be) doing so much better in the EU but we’re not. We still have clueless policymakers worshipping at the altar of Silicon Valley; chasing unicorns but ending up with poop emojis from Elon Musk.
I told them as much when I last spoke at the parliament (https://ar.al/2019/11/29/the-future-of-internet-regulation-at-the-european-parliament/) but I’m afraid it fell on deaf ears.

@aral EU elections are next year. It would be great to have more discussion of this kind of issues on a pan-european level.

@rami That’s very kind of you to say, Rami, but I don’t get the feeling anyone’s listening. Even the folks who invited me to speak tried to censor me when they found out what I was planning to say. And while I might be invited to speak once in a blue moon, it’s always with someone from Facebook/Google/etc. there “for balance” whereas Google’s lobbying office is next door to the EU parliament and we don’t get invited “for balance” whenever they talk to them.
