     @nepfag @matrix I sort of think terms like retro and oldies are being used wrong. Art gets it right, and music does to an extent. Terms pertain to eras and styles. Like Modern art is art made around 1900 (give or take 50 years), and art in that style. It does not mean art produced today. Classical music too, music of a certain style, produced at a certain time. Orchestral music, produced today, still gets called classical.
     
     Retro game should just be game of a certain era, like the 70's through the 90's, which were distinct in many ways to the games of 2000-today. Given the near collapse of the AAA gaming industry and rise of indie games, It feels like in 10 year's we will have a style distinct to those two eras. I feel like oldies should be pop music from the 1930s through 1950's.

     @Elliptica @matrix @nepfag This is a good point. The superficial examination is merely about the age of those for whom it was popular. The secondary examination and eventual classification would likely follow your statement. The tertiary examination will be in the form of the cultural significance of the movements/thoughts spawned from each media epoch.
