   A site called mastinator.com has started aggregating and republishing toots without permission. It creates accounts with your handle and follows you to get your toots (e.g., @aral@mastinator.com, which, just to make clear, is not me).

     @SpaceLifeForm That was me when I’d set up a Mastodon instance for DiEM25 (which they flat out rejected… one of the reasons I left. https://ar.al/notes/farewell-not-goodbye/)

     That said, I don’t know if there’s a way to remove old accounts. I was running a bunch of tests six years ago and all those accounts are still findable.

     Dropping the fake that you know of.

     Is the one on d25.community also fake or just someone with the same name?

     @rabbigabriel Posts are public, yes. And, unless otherwise stated, copyright the people who wrote them. So that’s one thing. The other thing is that if you don’t like what someone is doing with your posts and you have a technical means to prevent them, you are also allowed to do so. And, beyond the technical, there is the social and community aspect. So what you’re doing can be technically possible but you might be socially outcast for it if people don’t like it.
