   @chrisg In a nutshell:

   If you want corporations to be able to take what you make and enclose it (e.g., Google takes what you make, spends millions to improve it or build upon it, but doesn’t share those improvements back), then use a “liberal” license like MIT, etc.

   If you want to avoid that scenario and protect the code from being enclosed use a free software license like AGPL.

   (Liberal licenses – should we call them neoliberal licenses? – are corporate-friendly and open to privatisation.)

     I see a lot of questions here around software #licensing. It is an important issue but i don't know of many reputable sources of information about it. All i know i learned by talking with FOSS lawyers and license checking tool creators.

     If you know of good resources, including experts on #Mastodon, send them my way and i'll promote them.
