   🤔Taylor Swift breaks up with her boyfriend, and Mastodon doesn't really talk about it much. Not even by searching the hashtags. But in the bad place, Black Twitter already has Pete Davidson trending!

   Many folks on Mastodon view this as a feature, not a bug. I'm not passing judgement on Mastodon. Just pointing out how it's different.

   People that don't understand why Signal put stories in a secure comms app, also might not understand why being culturally relevant is important to young users.

     @mekkaokereke Is the specific feature/bug we're talking about here that a smaller group like Black Twitter can focus broader cultural attention on a specific phenomenon (Pete Davidson in this case)?

     Mastodon is an intentionally slower mode of communication. Things trending is somewhat related to things going viral. So it's a feature/bug that celebrity news travels more slowly.
