   it's weird. I've used floppy disks like 10 times today, and optical disks like twice. I'm having WAY more trouble getting a modern optical drive to behave than all the floppy disks!

     @tekhedd just regular CD-ROMs, actually. I'm trying to read a CD-ROM and I only got 72% of the way through and then my apparently exploded and I can't get it working again

     @foone Reboost for "it's weird" and the weird thing isn't that you've been using floppies all day. Also wtaf when you say optical I assume you mean CDRs but please, this resists contextual disambiguation?

     also due to an error in copy-pasting a command between computers, I attempted to eject one of my hard drives instead of the CD-ROM tray

     I assume, at least. I'm using this computer remotely (it's in my office & I'm currently bedridden), so it's possible if I go and check it I'll find a drive dangling from a data cable, amidst the shattered glass of the case

     @foone my drive just spun the 2x BD with 24x.
     The disk did not approve.
     Oh, you have a read error? Well then the disk is bad and I am going to explode it for you. BAMM!
