     @sendpaws Politics have rotted almost everyone's mind. They've made it their personality. Everywhere you go on the Internet except some random niche blogs that basically don't exist anymore, there are people talking about politics with flags in usernames while taking sides on the $current_topic. It didn't use to be that way a decade ago.

     2014 ain't coming back because of the politics in play and it'd be risky to try to re enter the communities I used to occupy because people with axes to grind against me spread rumors and bombastic stories about me back in the day and I'm sure I'm not alone

     @tadano I don't really know of any sane places. Many of the people that left, left in "chunks" with most of the community around them and still remain in contact in private over XMPP/IRC/whatever. It's not like they disappeared completely. You just don't see them.

     @phnt @tadano Can confirm that many communities are just small group chats now. As for fedi its always the same cycle, people comen people leave etc. The new flood to be filter out seems to be on the horizon.

     the anglosphere of the internet has been so incredibly enshitified by politics that have been forced on everyone to the point that I dont think theres much to get rid of it other than just dipping out and just living life outside the internet

     @sendpaws I know it's not coming back. At least not in the near future where tensions in communities will still be high. It's the same as with 90's Internet, that's not coming back ever. In 10 years? Nobody can probably tell for sure.
     
     I thankfully wasn't part of any community that went apeshit over politics.

     It is and had been for some time at least for me. I've been taking much more breaks from social media in general. Mainly for my sanity reasons because I don't need to read about Trump all the time and also because there is less interesting posts to interact with. A lot of fedi was dumbed down to either a severe Trump Derangement Syndrome or thinking that constant nigga jokes are actually funny. And for both I blame Twitter :D

Kids are glued to phones almost constantly in public and young zoomie couples resort to watching short form brainrot on their phones instead of talking to each other on a train/public transport. Something I am always completely dumbfounded by.

     @sendpaws I should have clarified that by dead I mean not interesting/nothing of value. Dead of potentially engaging and interesting posts if you will. Mastosoc and related has the 100% agreeable posts with zero value and hundreds/thousands of reactions with almost no replies. And we have Trump and jews. The end result is the same. Nothing of value.

     @phnt @sendpaws The best way Ive found to start that shit is to go through my known network rather than my follower list. Usually when I bring up some gem of a post other people will chime in. Most will immediately block you cause they're bluesky brained but some will continue on. The one right now im in thats quite interesting is this dude named cookiejarobserver who seems to be some reddit nhilist whose not just posting a bunch of lolsorandom zoomer brainrot as responses.

     @waff @sendpaws It's very much the opposite. I want shitposting and random technical hellthreads that devolve into shitposting with little politics involved (With the only exception being free/open-source politics and related. That's inevitable considering the origin of this network). And there's very little of that currently. Or at least I see very little of that considering the people I follow.
