   Jesus did say that blasphemy against Him would be forgiven, but blasphemy against the Holy Spirit would not be. I've never fully understood what that meant, but I do wonder if perhaps the Talmud story about the rabbis finding a loophole and outwitting God might be an example of that.

     I actually went back and looked up the OT verses the rabbis cited to support their alleged divine loophole, and the context for both verses is so ridiculously at odds with the Talmudic reinterpretation. Of all the words in the Bible they could've chosen and twisted for their own ends, they didn't even bother to come up with anything clever when trying to outwit God, just citing the words "I," "am," and "God" from pretty much anywhere in the Bible would be roughly as clever and creative and effective at proving your point.

     @ArdainianRight by christian theology, Jesus is god's sacrificial lamb, meant to take the attacks and forgive them. It's consistent with the rest of it even taking into account the idea of the trinity, since people will usually interpret them as different entities even if we go with the idea that they're manifestations of the same being.

     There's also the little detail of a human being actually being the son of God is understandably hard to believe, whereas proclaiming that you yourself can outwit the creator of the whole universe is ridiculously arrogant to anyone who thinks about it for even 2 seconds.
