   oh yeah, like they're gonna just come in there and replace the entire ATC operating environment with some shitty javascript app written by overworked zoomers.
   
   wanna see a little bit of what goes into these systems? i got a job offer from these guys a looooong time ago to build some of this stuff that i turned down (good decision in hindsight!)

     @theorytoe i think a lot of it is shit because of technical debt, not because it's actually shit.
     
     when you deal with 50+ years of legacy systems that keep people from getting killed, "eliminating technical debt" isn't going to win you any additional favors or budget. it's not flashy, and it's hard to quantify.
