Before the 1990s cultural shifts were less controlled because you had thousands of independent publishers, record labels, and even movie production companies. There was a whole southern drive in movie circuit entirely separate from Hollywood, not to mention black cinema and real independent art films. - Kenny Blankenship likes this.
