Finally finished the Citadel. It was a fun game, and my initial frustration with the platforming was alleviated when I realized the Lives you can use with pattern buffers are permanent and come back if you used them all up and have to restart the level... a fair system, imo. I was also happy with the powerup granted by a secret bonus level, Infinite Backpack, which removed the ammo storage max and let you pick up as much ammunition for your guns as you wanted... something that came in handy in the final chapter of the game, because holy fuck they don't hold back on zerg rushing you with everything and everyone all at once.
The aesthetic was pleasantly weird and creepy, and I don't think the minimalist story took away from anything. Sometimes running through corridors and blasting things is good enough.
I have to finish Beyond Citadel next, and since that one seems a little more story heavy, I'm curious to see where it goes, given that the first one had you literally kill God with a nuclear bomb. Going to be hard to top that.
