     @GrungeQueef AI is all hype anyways. Japan excells in material science which they are still ahead in. Its just not as flashy as thinking machines

     @GrungeQueef yeah jap high tech industry was built on infringing US patents and artificial currency conditions created by the US to keep them as a quiet and loyal US colony
     the US enabling their industries with said currency controls ended in the late 80s and killed their chip fabrication businesses, and the US has no patents to steal that the koreans and chinks aren't already doing for cheaper than the japs possibly can
     they've got like cars and big ovens and niche chemicals these days and that's about it
