In Germany there is a growing movement called #OmasGegenRechts - Grannies against the Right. They organise, participate in demonstrations. Without ego, focusing on doing the right thing based on the history they very well know. I salute you.
Just this week we had more than a million [1] people joining protests all over Germany against the Right in many big and small cities, down to villages where only several hundreds of people live. People are good. People know what's good. People can ignore clickbait and come together to protest. Even if the clickbait driven media does everything it can to ignore these protests. #WeAreMore#NoNazis (the #Munich protest had 300000+ participants on Saturday, Feb 8 2025)
This movement has already led to a notable headline in the Tageszeitung, when former chancellor Angela Merkel loudly opposed her parties (CDU, the Conservative Party that most likely will get the most votes in the upcoming election in February) current position to accept support from the far right in the German parliament to ram through a law proposal on limiting immigration (that ultimately failed).
Go on, just click the #OmasGegenRechts hashtag. Subscribe to it. You don’t need to be able to understand German. Most posts are full of pictures, showing you how people in Germany are taking the streets to show their support for democracy and their resistance against the (far-)right.
