     @IreTiger there are philosophical questions as the what consciousness is. I think it's an interesting conversation, but I don't think there will ever be a way to know whether or not anything is actually conscious (that applies to humans). We can imagine ourselves as conscious and that tends to be good enough, but if we build a computer and it says "I'm alive" I'm inclined not to believe it. Hell alpaca using the 13b parameter model "thinks" it's a person :shrug:

     @IreTiger some might believe it, but I think most people would hold at least a little skepticism. That said, there are people actively trying to slow innovation and tighten centralized control over the technology by hyping fears that it's going to steal jobs and make everyone irrelevant in a year or 2 lol. I think these fears will trigger people to support stupid regulations that will set a precedent
