   guess the worm has turned. those who were cancelling people and ruining lives for holding the wrong opinion are receiving a taste of their own medicine and immediately panic.

   academic freedom and science are not threatened by not receiving loads of free money. nobody is preventing them to do this research. they can do research as they please. ask the industry for money, or maybe bill & melinda?

   i sincerely hope these people enjoy this hell of their own making.

     @theorytoe in large parts yes. there are always a few people who actually get things done and research interesting stuff, but those are never the poster boys.

     yes, I always find that most corporate r&d ends up doing a better job at it anyway (not as of recent, but in the past (god I hate ai))

     @theorytoe @bonifartius Bigger corporate entities also refuse to work with academia, because there's a higher risk of leaks from that.
