> And while Mexico and Canada are in a vulnerable position because of their smaller economies, they can still hurt the US. Their retaliatory tariffs could raise prices on key goods — even as Trump vows to lower grocery costs for US shoppers.
I read this stuff a lot, that the danger is 'retaliatory tariffs', and yeah, it will make things worse if they enact them, but tariffs are already raising prices for everyone regardless of which side enacts them. Unilaterally abolishing tariffs will already drop prices, there's no need for the other side to do the same.-

Trump deliberately created this situation to show the world how weak Canada and Mexico have become. They were used to pushing Joe Biden around, so Trump put Sheinbaum and Trudeau in a "challenge and response," scenario.
Trudeau will not win re-election and Sheinbaum is just a WEF shill with no real experience, so they did what? Reciprocal tariffs against a much larger economy... Not diplomacy, not a new trade agreement. They lack the creativity and flexibility to lead.

@lain politically motivated tariffs are always bad for the economy, they’re only good for pleasing the voters who won’t blame the results on the tariffs.
