   @chjara When i was a kid getting HIV was a death sentence. not a fast painless one either. Terrifying. It was a long time before it wasn't a death sentence.

     it's fucked up how many somewhat common non-human animal disease have fatality rates in the 90%s
     
     thinking of it, a lot of human diseases also have extremely high mortality rates (think about the life expectancy of someone with untreated HIV or tetanus), we just have really good treatment for that stuff
