I would argue the most important intellectual in terms of paving the way for this shift is probably Hans Hoppe, for serving as a bridge between libertarianism and the far right for extremely online autists.

     Nevermind the slavish philosemitism and drug abuse, Peterson is inherently tainted by viewing the world through the lens of psychology a la Jung. The problem is not so much that you can't get useful insights out of that, it's that adopting a psychologist's point of view in analyzing religion inherently alienates you from the pre-modern mindset from which the religion came, and inevitably corrupts all it tries to analyze into being just another facet of modernism. Trying to view the Bible through a lens which strips it of all miraculous and transcendent properties leaves you with a vapid "Just be vaguely nice according to the standards of society" husk. Psychology is a blight of modernity, enslaving us to modern ways of thinking and viewing the world, even when we try to escape modernity through the texts of the ancients.

     @ArdainianRight I basically agree, but I also think that as absurd as it might seem, this kind of analysis can lead to eventually accepting and adopting the miraculous and transcendent aspects of Christianity.
     Those like Peterson who do not end up that way, just have more spiritual issues within them stopping them from doing so. His own behaviour and self-destructive tendencies showed that.
     
     You can slice and dice and rationalize Christianity to explain it without the mysticism and metaphysical aspects, but eventually many people realize that it is also True, because the conclusion they come to is that a world without it really doesn't make sense.
     
     And they realize that their ancestors were not irrational or stupid.
     Peterson has to be understood as the product of a fallen world.
