No shade but what's a FOSS/Privacy tool that's disappointed you?

@gabriel
gonna light up the fires with this one
but libreoffice calc
has been the most poor-performing buggy spreadsheet i have ever used... and I dont know why -

@theorytoe @gabriel We have R for two reasons:
1. So we don't have to rely on Excel
2. So we don't have to rely on Libreoffice Calc -

@tadano @gabriel
i have R but its a glorified calculator at this point
I kike the arbitrary nature of spreadsheets, its this sort of visual dumping ground for stuff, but you can do tons of neat calculations on stuff
even as a programmer its nice to have a spreadsheet for stuff that has things that need calculations
my example is for an upcoming project, i generated a bom for the parts. They all fit quite nicely in excel -

@gabriel Both Matrix and XMPP. The former is utterly compromised and run by skittles people who would rather make paid versions of Synapse instead of developing a compiled, fully compliant server implementation. The latter has nobody going "what if we made client software that didn't suck balls?" Admittedly, neither XMPP nor Matrix devs seem concerned with making a functional client so XMPP wins by default.
I am repeatedly baffled by the FOSS world's incapability at making chat software that doesn't blow. It can't be that hard to achieve similar functionality to Telegram or Discord within 5 years!

@theorytoe @gabriel Haven't tried it yet. Is it any good? More importantly, can you do chat + VoIP + Videocall + filesharing in it? The identityless nature of it looks cool but I haven't picked it up yet due to my disappointment with Matrix.
